Batya Turezky
In 1935, Batya Turezky immigrated from Poland to Israel, joining three of her brothers who had previously settled there. She left behind the rest of her family in the city of Baranowicze, Poland (now Baranovici in Belarus).
In July of 1941, the Nazis entered Baranowicze and killed Batya’s family by gunshot. Her brother, Leibush Turezky, was one of the first 73 people murdered when the Nazi’s arrived. Batya’s parents, Esther and Yekutiel Turezky, her sister-in-law, Mina, and the three children of Leibush and Mina were later shot at the local train station.
