Astronaut Jeffrey Hoffman Visits With Grade 8

Jeffrey Hoffman, former NASA astronaut and currently a professor of aeronautics and astronautics at MIT, visited Heschel for a special science program with Grade 8. Hoffman spoke about how he became interested in space, his preparations to be an astronaut, and his missions that included the first mission to repair the Hubble Space Telescope in 1993, when the orbiting telescope's flawed optical system was corrected. He was NASA's second Jewish astronaut, and the second Jewish man in space. Among the Jewish items he took into space were a Dreidel, which he spun for an hour!
