Building Kehilat Heschel: A Community of Workers
Grade 1 students have been hard at work exploring the people who help our communities thrive every day. As part of their Community Workers unit, each student became an expert on a specific profession, conducting research, learning about the role, and writing their own book to share their knowledge.
To celebrate their learning, the first graders transformed the Roanna Shorofsky Theater into Kehilat Heschel: A City of Community Workers, an interactive experience designed especially for Heschel’s Early Childhood students. Young visitors explored the city, stopping at stations led by our first-grade experts to learn about a variety of important professions.
From police officers and firefighters to veterinarians, doctors, dentists, bakers, postal workers, librarians, teachers, bus drivers, construction workers, and sanitation workers, each station offered fascinating facts, hands-on activities, and special giveaways connected to the profession. The event was a wonderful opportunity for our first graders to share their learning, practice public speaking, and teach younger students about the many people who make our communities strong.
