Israel Minyan Hears From Shira Ya'abetz
Shira Ya'abetz Apel visited Heschel High School’s Israel Minyan to share the legacy of her son, Yiftach Ya'abetz ז״ל, who fell in the battle to defend Nahal Oz on October 7.
Yiftach ז״ל, who was an officer in the elite commando unit Maglan, displayed extraordinary courage and leadership. Together with his unit, he forced the terrorists who had infiltrated Nahal Oz to flee, ensuring that no lives were lost on the kibbutz that day.
Shira spoke movingly about her son, who left behind a legacy of poetry and other writings, which students read together. She concluded by sharing one of Yiftach’s favorite sayings: “Easy roads don’t lead to exceptional places.”
