Grade 5 Nutrition Studies Snack Science

Grade 5 Nutrition students learned about the 6 nutrients--water, vitamins, minerals, fats, carbohydrates, and proteins--and ate them too! With a focus towards eating well-rounded snacks, the students are beginning to understand what sugars and fats foods are made of. The class combined unsweetened oat creamer and water with chia seeds, sweetening their recipe with honey or date syrup.
