Students Perform shakespeare monologues
Each year, the English Speaking Union hosts a National Shakespeare competition in which high students choose a Shakespearean monologue and perform it for their school. The winner of the school competition then goes on to the New York City competition at the English Speaking Union to compete with a prepared monologue and sonnet. Winners from the city competition advance to the state competition at The Morgan--performing a monologue, sonnet, and a cold reading of Shakespeare. The winners of the state competition perform their pieces at Lincoln Center.
After choosing their monologues, five Heschel high school students worked on analyzing and rehearsing their pieces, and performed for the High School.
