Technology
The technology program at Heschel engages students’ creativity, problem solving abilities, and critical thinking skills, empowering them to navigate a safe, technologically-dynamic world. Classes meet in the technology lab weekly to learn engineering and programming. Using logic and reasoning, students identify and solve problems in both 2D and 3D environments. They apply their understanding of cause and effect to modify their plans as needed and learn to communicate their ideas using blueprints and drawings. Programs such as CodeMokey, CodeSpark, Code.org, CoSpaces, and Sphero Robotics are used in the technology lab. By 3rd Grade, students learn proper keyboarding techniques which they continue to practice throughout Lower School. New technologies, software, and internet resources are explored and evaluated on an ongoing basis to create a safe-technology rich environment. Classroom teachers and technology specialists collaborate to integrate classroom content and technology throughout the year.
