Mathematics

Most Heschel Middle School students will complete an Algebra I program in eighth grade. Coursework is offered at four levels:

  • Enriched - This class completes an Algebra I course in seventh grade and a Geometry course in eighth grade, with the expectation that students will enroll in Algebra II in ninth grade.

  • Standard and Accelerated - These classes complete an Algebra I program in eighth grade. The accelerated class works at a faster pace with additional time for complex problem sets. Students who do well in these classes move on to 9th grade Geometry.

  • Fundamental - This class completes a pre-algebra sequence, with the expectation that students will enroll in an Algebra I course in high school. This class is designed for students who need extra support in math.
