GALLERY: Grade 7 “Future Self” Art Projects
Students were asked to imagine a day in their life twenty years from now, in 2046, and to write a “day in the life” narrative describing who they have become. The painting captures a single moment from that imagined day.
What made this project particularly meaningful is that it was not about the careers students hope to pursue, but about the kind of people they hope to become. Before beginning, students reflected on the character traits they aspire to embody as adults. Only then did they imagine what a life shaped by those traits might look like. The scene each student chose to depict was carefully selected to reflect those aspirations (a snapshot of a future life built around the qualities they hope will define them). Whether they envisioned themselves as doctors, professional athletes, actors, teachers, parents, or something else entirely, the focus was on the personal qualities and choices that would guide them there.
