Math

Our Lower School mathematics curriculum blends investigative and traditional approaches to foster both a deep conceptual understanding and practical proficiency in math. Central to our program is the Singapore Math framework, renowned for its concrete-pictorial-abstract (CPA) progression. This method starts with hands-on learning (concrete), advances to visual aids (pictorial), and culminates in abstract reasoning with symbols and numbers.

Our math curriculum is designed to nurture critical thinking and logical reasoning, allowing students to decompose complex problems into manageable steps and build confidence in their mathematical abilities. We emphasize mastering concepts rather than rote memorization, ensuring that students understand the “why” and “how” behind mathematical principles. This approach not only prepares students engage in advanced math but also equips them with skills that are applicable in the real world.

To further enhance the learning experience, our program is supported by math specialists who offer support as well as enrichment opportunities. Beginning in Grade 3, students can join our extra-curricular math team and engage in challenging problems from the Continental Math League (CML). Our math specialists collaborate closely with teachers to ensure a seamless progression of skills throughout the grades.

We are committed to providing a mathematics education that is both rigorous and inspiring, setting the foundation for our students’ future academic and personal success.
